Bold & Schaft
x Ewerdt Hilgemann

Our work revolves around color, nuance and daylight, qualities that are soft and tactile. The later sculptures of Ewerdt Hilgemann, with their hard surfaces and chance as a guiding design principle, confront us with a different understanding of material. They invite us to exchange the softness of our objects for a certain hardness, not through physical deformation but via a glossy skin, a reflective coating.

This leap from absorbing to reflecting, from matte to gloss, raises questions about how our visual language can evolve without losing its essence.
